Global Stamping Friends – Following a Recipe

Hello Friends! Welcome to this month’s Global Stamping Friends blog hop. You are visiting Jenn Charles in USA and the theme for July is Recipe. Our challenge was to use the Stampin’ Up! color Crumb Cake on our card and make it food themed!

Because it’s been so stinking hot in my town lately, I decided to use melting ice cream. I needed a thank you card for a friend and thought this would work perfectly. I absolutely loved the Ice Cream designer series paper that just retired yesterday so I decided to make my own. I love the way it turned out! The colors I chose to pair with Crumb Cake were Mint Macaron and Soft Sea Foam. They reminded me of Mint and Chip ice cream which is my favorite!

I used an extra piece that I trimmed from the front to decorate the inside of my card. It was just too pretty to waste 🙂

You really need an arsenal of background stamps in your collection. I usually choose a stamp set that has at least one background stamp because they are very versatile and can be used for anything. To make the background pattern paper I used the splotch from Painted Poppies that is reserved for filling in the flower. Then I used the splatter from Quiet Meadow.

What do you think? Want to try making some pattern paper yourself? If you aren’t feeling that brave, don’t worry! Stampin’ Up! has gorgeous designer series paper that you can cut up and use for backgrounds like this. Nine of them are 15% off right now throughout July!

Jenn

Your card is so cool, Jenn. Love the dimension created by stamping one ice cream and popping the other up. Great colour combo too. Thanks for sharing x
